What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes redness, visible blood vessels, and sometimes acne-like bumps, primarily on the face. It often starts with frequent flushing and can lead to persistent redness, thickened skin, and, in severe cases, an enlarged nose.
Though its exact cause is unclear, rosacea is thought to result from a mix of genetic and environmental factors. While it isn’t curable, it can be managed with treatment and proper skincare.

Common Symptoms:

Persistent redness, typically on the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead, may occur, along with small broken blood vessels, papules, pustules, flaking, and dryness.
Individuals may also experience frequent blushing, as well as burning, stinging, and tingling sensations.

Common Triggers of Rosacea

Common triggers of rosacea include heat, extreme weather conditions like strong winds and harsh UV, spicy foods, alcohol, coffee, hot showers, heat-based exercise, exfoliating skincare ingredients, and menthol. If you notice significant skin flushing after activities like exercising, taking a hot shower, or drinking wine, it could be a sign of rosacea.

This frustrating occurrences is very common, and can be managed efficiently and painlessly using a combination of this cutting-edge laser technology, as well as a few simple steps at home using your prescribed skincare products.

What can I do at home to manage my Rosacea?

When treating rosacea, it is important to invest in medical-grade skincare as it is specifically formulated to be gentle and effective for sensitive skin, which is common in rosacea sufferers. These products are often free from harsh chemicals, fragrances, or irritants that could worsen the condition.

Dermaviduals is our most loved brand for treating rosacea. It is gentle and calming on the skin and provides a great reduction in inflammation associated with rosacea.

It is also extremely important to ensure you are wearing an SPF 50+ everyday.
Physical SPF is essential for rosacea sufferers because it protects sensitive skin from UV rays without irritation.
Unlike chemical sunscreens, physical sunscreens reflect UV light and help prevent flare-ups, redness, and inflammation caused by sun exposure.
We highly recommend the Airyday Mineral Mousse SPF50+ or Airyday Pretty in Zinc SPF50+.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the treatment work?

One of our highly trained and qualified technicians uses our gold-standard Cutera Excel-V+ Laser to treat the target area. When the laser light passes down through the skin, it targets the blood vessels and coagulates them, making them irreparable. With the vessel being beyond repair, the body breaks them down and disperses them throughout the lymphatic system. This can take up to two weeks for this process to happen.

What can I do for best results?

The best results are obtained with two weeks of careful skin preparation of sun protection and hydration, and with the cessation of retinol application three days prior to treatment. After your treatment, continue to avoid sun exposure and exercise for at least 24 hours.

What is the downtime after treatment?

Depending on what settings are used and which areas are treated, you may experience some slight swelling, pin point bruising and facial redness that can last for up to 24-48 hours. Your treating clinician will go through your specific aftercare requirements and possible downtime before your laser treatment commences.
